Our Founders

Botanica Lucumi, originally M.R.T. Religious Supplies evolved through the hard work and dedication of Omo Yemaya, Omi-Tinibu's and Omo- Yemaya, Ashemi's godparents Ade Sola, Oni-Chango and Omi-Dina, Omo Yemaya. They not only passed down to their godchildren the business they also passed down the knowledge, traditions and secretes of the religion so, that they too continue the tradition of helping others.

 Omi-Tinibu was born in Puerto Rico and raised in New York. She was raised in a circle of Espiritistas passed down from her mother and ancestors. Since childhood Omi-Tinibu was blessed with spiritual awareness and guidance from her muertos and guides. She continuously searched for knowledge and spiritual growth. In 2008 she was initiated in the Palo Monte Religion by her padrino Ade-Sola and during the same year she received Osha by her padrino Ade-Sola and Iyugbona Olokun-Dei.  

Her padrino Ade-Sola, Oni-Chango, was born and raised in Cuba and was initiated into the Lucumi religion by Ibaé Bayé T'orún Olufan-Dei in 1973. Additionally, he was initiated in Palo Monte in 1970 by Ibaé Bayé T'orún Tata Nkisi Orlando Calvo. Thanks to the great knowledge and guidance that his Tata passed on to him, Ade-Sola has been able to help many people out of tough situations and has saved many lives.

Ashemi was initiated in the Palo Monte Religion in 2008 by his padrino Ade-Sola and received his Osha by his padrino Ade-Sola and his madrina Omi-Dina. Omi-Dina was born and raised in Cuba, where she was surrounded with spiritualism and the Lucumi religion. As a young child she developed her psychic ability. Through her spiritual guides she was led to her godfather in the Lucumi religion, Ibaé Bayé T'orún Olufan-Dei. She was initiated into the Lucumi religion in 1972. She is Oni-Yemaya. To Omi-Dina, the Lucumi religion is not just a religion, but a way of life.

In 2009 Omi-Tinibu and Ashemi received Cofa and mano of Orunla by their godfather Oragunfun. Their godfather Oragunfun was born and raised in Cuba where he worked as a college professor and taught physics and mathamatics.

Omi-Tinibu and Ashemi have vowed to pass on the knowledge and tools of the religion to all those that want to become part of such wonderful religions.
